IT STARTED WITH A CHIP…

In 1993, a novel technology was invented by a team that included Jon Faiz Kayyem, PhD at The California Institute of Technology (CalTech). This invention combined nucleic acids and microelectronics to produce an electronic sensor for DNA detection. His invention was based on electrical detection of nucleic acids on a cassette based detection platform.

GenMark’s ePlex sample-to-answer system symbolizes the evolution of eSensor technology combined with digital microfluidics. ePlex is designed to integrate automated nucleic acid extraction and amplification with eSensor detection technology, allowing technicians to place a raw or a minimally prepared patient sample directly into the test cartridge and obtain results without additional steps. The ePlex menu targets critical applications in infectious disease testing.*

At GenMark, we’re changing the diagnostics landscape, combining out-of-the-box thinkers and game-changing technology to revolutionize patient care.
