Through its Hanover Insurance Company, it provides personal and commercial automobile, homeowners, workers' compensation, and commercial multiple-peril insurance and professional liability coverage. In Michigan, it operates as Citizens Insurance Company. The group sells its products through a network of 2,000 independent agents in the midwestern, northeastern, and southeastern US, but Michigan and Massachusetts account for a third of its business. Its Opus Investment Management subsidiary provides institutional investment management services. In the UK it operates through its Chaucer Holdings subsidiary.
