We are currently recruiting for a talented and experienced Senior Accountant to join the team in Tukwila, Washington.  As a critical component in achieving the mission of the Authority, our Accounting Department is committed to working collaboratively across the agency to ensure that timely and accurate financial data is available whenever needed to support all housing programs and opportunities.

 

Essential Functions

The Senior Accountant is an important member of the Finance team. The position will be responsible for accounting for all finance related transactions associated to the Greenbridge project, participate in all financial planning activities of the Greenbridge project, and will work closely with department leaders to provide consultative analysis and reporting.  They will also contribute to financial planning and reporting efforts as well as grant accounting and other key initiatives in support of KCHA’s mission.   Knowledge and experience in advanced accounting will be important, as this individual will be responsible for:  

  • Provides full finance and accounting services for the Greenbridge department
  • Provides general ledger coding for all Greenbridge transactions
  • Prepares journal entries
  • Documents cash transactions and verifies the nature of cash spending
  • Prepares monthly financial reports
  • Prepares Housing and Urban Development (HUD) reports
  • Monitors debt and interest payments 
  • Participates in budget development and monitoring processes
  • Provides extensive support for the Public Housing Operating Subsidy Request
  • Grant accounting including expense tracking, monthly reporting, and grant close-out reporting
  • Initiate grant draws and submit funding requests, including preparing vouchers and required backup documentation
  • Supports annual audit processes and preparation of the Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards (SEFA)
  • Cross train with other Senior Accountants to provide backup when needed
  • Carry out complex, analytical projects that guide management decision making

Qualifications and Competencies

Experience & Education: 

  • A Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics or a related field; 
  • A minimum of three years of professional experience in a position-related discipline such as accounting, finance, financial reporting and analysis; 
  • Experience working in a public agency is preferred; 
  • Experience working as a land development accountant is preferred; 
  • CPA license is preferred.

  • Position will require occasional travel off-site for KCHA business needs.

Salary & Benefits:
The starting salary range of this position is $66,164 - $77,328 annually (dependent upon qualifications).  Performance based merit increase opportunities and COLAs are reviewed on an annual basis.  A comprehensive health care benefits package for you and your dependents includes medical, dental and vision insurance, life and long-term disability insurance plans, vacation, sick and personal leave, reduced tuition, and retirement benefits are also available.
